This weekend is set to look like another great one at bloc 2015 with headlines acts such as Jon Hopkins, Jeff Mills, Ben clock and Joy Orbison and with the summer weather on its way, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend our weekend!
We’ll be making our way down to Butlins in Minehead, tucked away on the Somerset fringes, which has an infrastructure suitable for a festival in terms of chalet accommodation (,camping in March would not be ideal), food stalls are permanent features and venues are covered with sound proofing allowing music until the early hours. In addition to this, there is added daytime entertainment such as go-karts and swimming pools with slides and chutes, we can’t wait! With all of these features already in place, the music is surely just the cherry on top! – Though the décor seems somewhat surreal it’s somehow perfect for three nights of musical fun.
The Bloc Weekend line up is an eclectic mix of worldwide electronic artists with the occasional left field act thrown in for good measure. The music is spread over a few venues and literally all under one huge roof. With a great crowd, people travel from all over the place to listen to this wide array of electronic acts both from the UK and else where.
We are most excited to see Joy Orbison, a DJ and producer based from our very own home town, London. His style is a coalescence of house, dubstep, UK funky, UK garage and old school jungle. He achieved underground success with his debut single “Hyph Mngo”. Having seen him perform on various occasions, he certainly knows how to get the crowd going and we think he’s going to be brilliant!
