Is BoomTown the maddest, most creative festival in the UK? It’s still a small, word-of-mouth festival but has been waves by being one of the most eccentric festivals out there.
As the name insinuates it takes in a mad, psychotropic fuelled little city. Where it throws open its doors to party-goers and the streets come alive surrounded with stages and festivals. It’s easy to forget you’re at a festival as the event organisers go all-out to encapsulate you in the world of BoomTown, the pavements are filled with dressed-up performers, crazy contraptions drive on past and impromptu street-parties take over the high street. If that’s not enough there’s also a giant walking spider that bears more than a passing resemblance to the one from Will Smith and Kevin Klein’s The Wild Wild West.
Music is an eclectic mix from Punk/Ska to Reggae and Electro. But line-up isn’t the real star of the show at BoomTown, that belongs to the hundreds of cast members that bring the city to life, the street performers, actors and circus/carnival inspired artists.
If you are looking to lose yourself for a few days in a town unlike any other, BoomTown has you covered. Chapter 6 (this year’s festival) is taking place just outside of Winchester from 7 – 10 August, tickets are available from £150.
