Literally about to drop at a festival, Secret Garden Party is 7 days away and counting. Rifling through my wardrobe trying to come up with a collection of outfits that’s gonna be on point. Pulling of a look, or precisely a series of looks for 4 days on the trot is not easy work. I’m not going with this year’s theme, I don’t even know what it is but I’m sure it’s open-ended enough that any outfits will fit.
When deciding what to wear I find it’s refreshing to start from the ground up. Choosing your footwear first is an interesting way to build your outfit. Like the foundations to a building starting off with your kicks then lets you build on them. It helps align your thinking and your trousers, shirts and jackets will all start to fall in place. Plus your always guaranteed that your look will be a lot tighter and flow together.
I’m starting my look with SWIMS, they are a Norweigan shoes and outwear specialists, still pretty unheard of in the UK. Their beautifully designed high-top brogues are fully waterproof, ideal for festivals. Their both practical and smart, you can tell the subtle Nordic fashion influences in the detailing of the kicks. Working these with a pair of cords, braces and a dickie-bow for most of my festival attire is the look I’m aiming for. It’s smarter than your average but with a good pair of shoes, I’ll be invincible. These SWIMS are available online for £150.
