Radiohead – Packt Like Sardines…
There are certain albums that matter to you more than others. Not because of the music really, but because of the ideas + concepts behind them. And most importantly the synapses it fired off in your head. Albums you heard that alterted your fundamental understanding of music. They took you in brave, new directions and made you sit up and take note. Pieces of work that in retrospect were the catalyst that drove you into entirely new genres, genres that you now call home.
A time when Top of The Pops still aired and music players lived in your bag not your pocket, Radiohead’s 2001 Amnesiac was one such album. Markedly different to the teenage angst bands that filled my ears such as Papa Roach, The Offspring and Staind; my fragile young mind did not know that music like this existed. Disjointed, surreal, abstract and hypnotic music. I fell in love.
