5 Dollars

What would you do for 5 dollars?

Thats about £3.50 on a good day and £2.50 on a bad one. There will always be those amongst us who will partake in crackhead like activities for a paltry $5, but then there are the moneymakers and the bootyshakers.

The first rule of business – make money. It’s simple but effective. Ask any budding Alan Sugar and they’ll tell you one of the easiest ways to make some moolah is by charging people for something that you’d normally do for free. Do not despair if you have little or no skill that sets you above and beyond every other hustler out there. I am sure there is something that people are willing to pay you for ;)

Just check out Fiverr - It’s a place where people pay and advertise services they are willing to perform for $5. Sounds odd, but wait – these range from the silly… ‘I will honestly tell you if your profile picture makes you look fat’ to ‘I will get you 100 twitter followers’ onto the classic ‘I will do your math homework for you’. All of a sudden its not sounding so bad now is it?  Some of the services on there are genuinely useful like photoshopping your images, creating logos or setting up a blog. Once you start to trawl the site looking for services, it is very easy to start spending like an oil rich Arab on pay-day.

$5 is nothing, its less than nothing, its pocket change. Before you know it its 3am and your $80 lighter with an inbox full of weird and wonderful goodies. Wondering how you can step up your web 2.0 hustle? Advertise a service, no matter how off the wall or quirky it may be, if ten people like what your offering, you’ve just made $50. Not too shabby for the kid who grew up eating crayons at the back of the class room. That gives me an idea…
