The ‘Gloria V-Bodysuit’ Conquers

Words by Jodie.

Some people say that women dress for women, and that lads don’t understand the relevance of items like pointy toed heels, fascinators or jeggings, but one thing that they do understand is the amazing power of a damn good cleavage.

My earliest memory of the ultra-cleavage was back in the year 2000 when J-Lo wore that famous green Versace dress to the Grammys. It was voted the best dress of the year by Instyle magazine in a feature about the most influential outfits of the decade. Well the trend is clearly still alive and kicking, but it’s been refined by the folks at American Apparel who have designed the Cotton Spandex Micro-Mesh Gloria-V Bodysuit. Even the famous Parisian fashion blogger Betty, with over 40,000 followers, has noted its popularity in France.

Considering that the brand of American Apparel, founded in 1989 as a cotton basics retailer, has revived itself so strongly in recent years, it is no surprise that the provocative image of the company is a hot commodity. I first laid eyes on The Bodysuit on one of their Facebook ads, which streamed down the side of my news feed, I knew right then and there that I had to have it. Their photography is as sexualized as that of Terry Richardson’s, but their persistence in using real sized girls to model the clothes is amazing and makes it accessible. Straying from the “perfect model” types is a bold decision, but one that most girls can relate to well and if you buy a brand image, you’ll most likely buy their products.

Even I have shamelessly made an attempt at rocking it, and can vouch that it is a boat load of fun to party in! Whether it’s the fact that it holds you in at all the right places, or that it’s as sexy as it is versatile, the only thing I know for sure is that I’m clocking shit loads of girls wear the Bodysuit, which can only mean that the ultra-cleavage is back in a bigger, safer way. You can bet that it will be strong in stores around the country, American Apparel will surely be banking on it.

The bodysuit is only available in pink and black retailing at £36 I can’t look anywhere without seeing it pop!
