Lovebox

Words by Grae

Well folks, how quickly this year has progressed! One of the most hotly anticipated festivals of the summer, the Lovebox weekender, is already just around the corner. The C&S crew are positively crapping their pants with excitement, and you should be too, because this year the line-up is better than ever. For anyone not crapping themselves with excitement, well, you could always go and see the Wombats, who are guaranteed to irritate the living shit out of you quicker than any deregulated Mexican laxative.

VICE are absolutely rinsing it this year with Spank Rock, Hudson Mohawke Live and Photek Live. We’re positively weak at the knees at the prospect of Herve bringing his legendary bass cannons along to melt your face off and, as if that wasn’t enough, Flying Lotus (recently seen DJing with none other than Thom Yorke) is bringing his incredible live show to close the stage!

There are literally so many good acts performing it’s astounding. On Friday 15 July opening shenanigans also include SebastiAn, who’ll be starting some serious shit in the wake of his excellent new album ‘Total’, and don’t forget fellow frenchmen Alan Braxe, Busy P and Cassius! But that’s just the tip of the iceberg…

All the usual U.K. Drum ‘n’ Bass crew from Hospital Records will be turning up the tempo on Saturday and no doubt sending many young scamps direct to A&E. Also Jack Beats, Russ Chimes and Reset! will be keeping it bouncy. Keep your ears peeled for Reset! dropping their upcoming track ‘Underwear’ because it is funkier than my bed sheets after a week of hangovers. Upbeat Australians Bag Raiders, will also be appearing on Saturday alongside Holy Ghost!, Ziggy Marley and….Warren G, who will ensure that the day’s events are properly regulated. It’s also fantastic to see Fenech Soler’s Ben Duffy returning to the stage alive and kicking, welcome back Ben!

Main stage. Snoop Dogg. ‘Nuff said.

Sunday brings yet another day of chaos so glue your tits back on, get back out there and don’t miss French superstar Fred Falke alongside Joe And Will Ask, In Flagranti, Tensnake, Jim Stanton, Filthy Dukes, the sensationally talented Robyn, 80′s legends Blondie, and the always spectacular 2manydjs closing the main stage.

There’s just not enough space-time to drop all of the great names in here, suffice to say that it will take you until the next one to recover. Pack your sunscreen, comfy shoes, plenty of water, and go fucking wild. C&S will be reppin’ for VICE and will be right there in the pit with you!!
