Stumbling across Vapiano is like finding money in an old jacket. It can be really tricky to find a decent place to eat when you are out and about in London. The Saturdays when you are doing some shopping and find yourself craving a tasty treat and a place to rest your weary feet. Or looking for a healthy eat after a few post-work drinks in the city. We seriously recommend you check out Vapiano if you’re looking for an alternative Italian restaurant with a great vibe inside.
We must admit that we still enjoy the novelty of ordering food at Vapiano. When you walk in you’re given a card, a bit like a credit card that you can load up food on. You then head over to a chef and after a bit of banter they’ll cook your custom meal right in front of your eyes! It’s pretty fun to watch your lunch being cooked and seeing your pasta popping out al-dente every time. The only head-scratcher is deciding what to order or what combination of pasta you fancy today!
With the amount of naff restaurants that seem to be chock-a-block for orders, it’s refreshing that Vapiano still feels a bit like a hidden secret. This all adds to the informal and relaxed atmosphere inside the restaurant, lots of smiles and full tummies :) It’s very easy to start chatting to someone next to you and the chefs are always up for a bit of chinwag too. If you fancy heading to an Italian restaurant with a difference try Vapiano in Oxford Circus (just behind TopShop) and Southwark (right next to the Tate).
P.S. All the photos in this blog post are what we’ve eaten at Vapiano
